Thrift Shop Annual Charity Donations

A total of £550 has been donated by the Thrift Shop to various local charities and voluntary organisations who all have a link with the Station or Wittering community.

Every year the Thrift Shop makes donations to worthwhile local charities and causes raised through the sale of items that are donated to the shop.

This year the organisations to benefit were 115 (Peterborough) Air Cadet Squadron, the Hive, Airplay and RAF Wittering Families Day. A donation was also made to local resident, Annette LeSech, to help fund research into Neurofibromatosis disease, a debilitative and currently fatal condition that affects her son and another child in Wittering village, despite being a one in 3000 occurrence.

The Wittering Thrift Shop is run by volunteers who staff the shop on  Monday and Thursday mornings and Tuesday evenings. People bringing in items to sell are given back 80 per cent of the sale price; the 20 per cent goes into the charity pot.

•If you would like to volunteer at the Wittering Thrift Shop, if you have something you would like to sell, or you know of a local charity or organisation that you would like to recommend for future donations, then please pop in and see us at 10 St George’s Road, Wittering.

The Wittering Thrift Shop has raised hundreds of pounds for local charities
and causes.
