More than 70 children aged five to 15 took part in the fun work shops where they got to see, and in some cases hold, an array of creepy crawlies. The sessions were run by experts from the Zoological Society who also answered lots of questions about the different beasts.
And while the children met the creatures, parents were able to relax at a coffee morning in the Real Bean Café.
HIVE Information Officer Sophie West said: “The sessions proved very popular and not only did the children learn all about the different creatures and their habitats, they were also able to get up close and touch them which they absolutely loved. In fact the tarantula proved a big hit for some strange reason!”
