Henry the Labrador must have thought it was his lucky day when his owner, Squadron Leader Claire O’Grady, OC PMS RAF Wittering, decided to enter the London Marathon. He has been recruited to help her train over those long difficult and lonely preparation runs that lead up to the big race.
On 17 April 2011, Claire, OC PMS, will run the London Marathon with the thousands of other entrants who have trained hard and are lucky enough to be awarded a place. The icing on the cake for Claire is that she will be running the Marathon with her husband, Pablo who is based on 11 Squadron at RAF Conningsby.
The couple will be raising money for the Forces Children’s Trust which aims to help the children of parents who have been killed or severely wounded during Service in the Military. When asked why she chose that charity, Claire said, “We decided to run in aid of the Trust after watching the Sun Military Awards. This is such a special and deserving cause and we felt it would benefit the most from the money we raise.”
Running the London Marathon is a tremendous and rewarding challenge. If you would like to sponsor Claire who is raising money for such a special and worthwhile charity, please go to www.justgiving.com/claire-pablo
