Charity Sleep Out

Wittering’s 3 Mobile Catering (MC) Squadron fed 850 people with a hot meal and a breakfast butty at the Centrepoint’s annual Sleep Out.

The Squadron has supported the charity’s Sleep Out in London for the last four years. The aim of the event is to give participants an experience of what it is like to sleep rough in safe conditions while highlighting the issue of youth homelessness.

Twelve personnel from the Squadron deployed with a full military field kitchen to the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, working right through into the early hours serving dinner and breakfast to participants.

Squadron Leader Claire Collis, OC 3 MC Squadron, said: “The Sleep Out is a great event, the Squadron feels passionately about it and the proof is in the brilliant food they prepare and serve.”

The Sleep Out, which was supported by celebrities from film, television and radio including Colin Salmon, Richard Madeley and Sara Cox, raised just over £300,000 for Centrepoint.
